I run conventional with an MTH z1000 and I can't get the rear headlight to come on.(on this N&W unit the long hood is forward). The rear red marker lights stay on and no headlight with the short hood end leading. I have done factory reset but nothing changes. I suspect the headlight was toggled off while in DCS at the factory or dealer. But I post here because I worry it could be a board issue.Do I just need a DCS system or should I return to dealer?

The factory reset would change all settings back to factory default (i.e. headlight on); it could be something as basic as an unseated headlight connector or a broken/chafed wire.
I had a similar issue with a ditch light on a Proto 3 GP38 that refused to illuminate no matter what I did; when I removed the shell I saw that the wires were pinched and the insulation was cut, causing the ditch light LED to short out and fail. I replaced the LED with a new part, only to discover that the short also damaged the ditch light output on the Proto3 board. Once I swapped out the damaged board the ditch light came back to life.
Can you post the catalog number of the unit?

Thanks for the info.

I have to disagree, politely, with AcelaNYP, and say, that without DCS, only a feature reset can be accomplished. IIRC, for a factory reset, DCS must be used. This has occurred when I went to a DCS layout, and came home with “clickety-clack” enabled. It couldn’t be disabled in conventional, and I had to wait until my next trip to a DCS layout.
I took the shell off this morning and can't find any problems with the wires.

Thanks for the part number; since the GP35 is literally brand new, I would recommend a trip back to the dealer.
