Remove the shell (Weaver should not be too hard) and look for any loose wires from/to the boards. That's the first thing a repair man will do, anyway. Just open it up and eyeball everything. Press the boards together. The loco isn't new, and contacts get loose, or "dirty".

Try in conventional with your TMCC Command Base turned off - if you have one. The "Run/Program" switch should be in "Run".

Have you ever tried opening a Weaver diesel? Not easy at all. Very tiny small screws that barely catch the inside threads of the mounting part. You would think they would have used a longer screw, then if they used some longer wire from the boards to the underneath part of the shell for lighting.
I have to say it is not an easy job just to take the shell off, let alone to diagnose an issue.
A club member’s engine has some type of short which we need to undo the shell again to see what is going on.
Thumbs down on any future Weaver engine purchase if this is what you need to do.
