What kit, or brand do you recommend for a free-standing steel water tank. I want one to go with my water column. Weave made a nice one in black, but I don't see it on their website anymore. I think Cornerstone also used to make one in O Scale. Tnx, Matt

You can find the Weaver tank on Ebay or train shows now and then. I bought the Weaver tank at a local show last Nov, so you can still find them.
Same for the Wathers tank, you can find them here and there, just have to keep your eye out for them.
I'd also try just a Google search on the Walther's tank. I have one and it is pretty nice. To add to the realism, I weathered the bands and some of the rivets with some adhesive weathering powders. Some dullcote is also a good addition if you're after a more real effect.

Look at Athearn ho version. It's great and fits O gauge very well. They used to go around $40-50 and are well worth the price. Dave G.

Alan,
That is great looking!
Do you take orders for doing more of them?
Dennis,
I do. You are so close that you can stop over. I am in South Plainfield. You may contact me via e-mail. I will make them in any color or with any name on them.

Alan,
That is awesome! However, I'm out in California. I'd be interested in placing an order.

Nice custom tower, indeed!
I would also suspect that Atlas O will be re-releasing the old Cornerstone tank pretty soon. They have the tooling now and based on some eBay prices people will pay for the original version, the Atlas folks should be fairly aware that the market demand is there.
Re the Athearn HO tower...an excellent choice for a town, metropolis, or large industry. But IMHO Al's or Cornerstone's is more 'railroady' for an engine terminal.
Weaver still has those water tanks ,was there a couple of weeks ago

Alan,
Just saw this when going back thru the forums and just realized how close you are. I am on William Street down the street from New Market Pond/Stelton Rd. I will have to see about getting a first hand look at your work and then try and start saving money! LOL
Matt,
The water tank looks 100 percent better on your layout than it did in my shop.
Thank you for posting this picture.

Matt GREAT looking water tower!!!
Alan...you are the "Water Tank King!"

Most water tanks would require a stand pipe for filling locomotives. The MTH standpipe with a little paint work is nice IMO. Click on the underlined phrase to link.
