will be in Reading tomorrow (from western Philadelphia suburbs) and was wondering if there are any good train stores the forum recommends (other than Ye Olde Train shop in Boyertown). Thanks.

And two blocks east is the Franklin Street Station, restored by BARTA
Another store:North of the Franklin Street Station is the Seventh Street Cut. Seventh Street is the Reading Company main line through the city. During the Great Railroad Strike, militia marched through the cut while citizens pelted them from the sides. The militia opened fire and killed people.
Drive north on North Sixth Street. Watch for the Skew Bridge, a stone arch bridge built on a curve to accommodate the Lebanon Valley Branch from Reading to Harrisburg. To the left, just before the bridge, is a street to the 3-Minute Car Wash by a bridge carrying Route 222 (Fifth Street Highway) over the Lebanon Valley Branch. Straight ahead on North Sixth Street is the Reading Company YMCA and then the Reading Locomotive Shops. The Reading Car Shops are father to the right.
Make a 45-degree left turn at The 3-Minute Car Wash and go north on Route 61 (Centre Avenue). At 940 Centre Avenue, visit Berks History Center on the left (www.berkshistory.org; 610-375-4375). To the right of the counter in the entrance hall is a 1:8 scale live steamer built by 52 Reading Shops apprentices

Thanks for the recommendations. Iron horse it is
Iron Horse ia a small shop. Nice folks, classic in town feel. Its actually the train shop I grew up on , although the layout of the store is much different on the inside now. It's one of the few shops I know of that continues to do well after the original owner retired. The gentleman that runs it now is either the son of the previous proprietor or was one of his employees and bought him out, not sure which. Like I said, nice folks.
Yes I am at Nicholas Smith at least monthly. Last purchase was a great black friday deal "for my son" for Easter or Valentine's: a Hershey RTR set for $150
