Ladies & Gentlemen,

Visited my favorite Antique store this week out in Adamsburg, Pa, I like this store a bunch, they seem to come up with all kinds of well maintained items.  When I was a boy I had a complete Tin Plate Village as part of my Christmas Tin Plate Train Layout.  Some of the village disappeared over the years, given away to other needy families in the neighborhood.  Recently I have been trying to re-acquire some of this original Tin Plate Village, however I wanted it to be in almost perfect shape.  Found out this is not so easy to do.  However that particular Antique Store performed it's magic once again and provided me with my Marx Tin Plate - Happy Time - Barn and Silo along with the complete set of farm animals, everything in almost perfect shape.  I needed this central part of my original Tin Plate Village to be in pristine shape and have looked for quite some time to pick up just the Happy Time set I had in mind, and on top of it I was able to purchase it at the Antique Shop at a reasonable cost, can't believe what these Marx Farm Sets in perfect shape, are going for on the Bay.

If any of the OGR members happen to know where I can pick up the original Farm House that matches this set, please let me know.

Carey T,

That big man holding me is my Grandfather, he was my Engineering Mentor and invented the Power Take Off Shaft that is used on every piece of powered Farm Machinery thru out the world.  He sold the Engineering to Farmall, when he was just a young man.  I am a (PWE) Professional Welding Engineer today, because of him and my father, it all started for me, with our Christmas Tin Plate Train Layouts.

ACE,

You hit it right on the money, the picture was taken in the early 50's, I was about 5 years old in that picture.  One of the happiest times of my life!

Ladies & Gentlemen,

The new Antique Store on Rt 30, located in what was, the Matt's Furniture Store, has some real nice Antiques also.   I managed to picked up, the original Marx Tin Plate US Army Head Quarters Training Center Bldg, it was also part of the original Marx Tin Plate Village, the deal was good but not quite the deal, I got on the Marx Farm.  It's been a good Tin Plate week!  Got to find some Soldiers, and some Farm people for this growing Tin village Next.

Tom,

Thanks buddy, finding them in this kind of shape and not having to remortgage the house to acquire them, was a long process no doubt about.  Then all of a sudden I get two of the main parts of the Marx village in the same week.  Still having trouble finding the original Farm House, in near perfect shape, that goes with Barn & Silo however.  If you happen to see one, let me know, will ya.

Steamer,

Dave these would go real well with your Uncles Original layout!
