We have a Bicentennial themed topic on the Real Trains forum, so how about one on the 3-rail forum.
I have all but 5 of my American Freedom Train (AFT) engines and cars on display so I thought I'd post pictures of them. Between K-Line, Lionel, and MTH there are 21 different cars now. What was nice to discover was the cars from all three manufacturers had colors that were very close to each other. First off, lets see the power.
MTH GS-4 #4449 and MTH water tender. The water tender is actually a fantasy piece since the original was black.
K-Line AFT Showcase cars #40 and #41.
Lionel AFT Entrance Car #100.
K-Line AFT Display Cars 101 through 110.
Lionel AFT Exit Car/Power car #111
MTH baggage cars in AFT paint scheme. Unfortunately these cars are not numbered correctly and one car came with unpainted doors. I need to renumber them to #33 (Storage/Laundry Car) and #34 (Storage Car) and fix the door.
Lionel AFT "Sleeping Car" #201
K-Line AFT "Pie Car" #202
K-Line AFT "Bar Car" lounge #203
K-Line AFT "Office Car" hospitality car #204
K-Line AFT "Press Car" observation
This train is getting pretty long and takes up a lot of shelf space
I hope Lionel continues to add to the AFT fleet, but it is not looking to good because Lionel does not have the molds for most of the remaining cars which will make them expensive to produce. They could produce the bunk/power car #200 and the storage cars because they have those molds. However, the showcase cars, commuter cars #202 to #205, the 85' flatcars, and the 85' tool car would be new designs for Lionel.
Lets see your Red, White, and Blue engines and cars.
