Remove shell from Lionel 6-28022 Shay engine

I have no idea, but is it possible to call up Lionel Support for something like this and they would send you a pdf or something?  I really don't know if the 'new' Lionel provides that type of customer service.  I've been satisfied with the phone support I've received, but that was on sales and warranty service.  I mean, it's worth a shot.  The worst that can happen is they say they don't do that.

I know you don't have to take nearly all the screws out, and the one issue I had was the shell stuck a bit and seemed like it wasn't coming off, but finally did.  There are only four or five screws for the engine.

It has been a while since I have removed the shell on a shay locomotive.  The info here is for the 6-18023 shay from 1992, but I believe it is basically the same body configuration.  I have included the schematic and parts list for 6-18023.  I hope they are readable !  They may apply reasonably well here.

A few things I remember: 1) it is VERY tight, and 2) LOOSENING (not removing) the valve block assembly helps with removing and reattaching shell.

It may be that there is only two body screws, as shown in the first picture.  I would try that first.

The second and third pictures show the valve block assembly screws.  I believe I loosened them to give a little relief when I reattached the shell.

This might be the third shell screw.

I just remember I was a bit mystified as to how to get the shell off at first, and it was very tight after removing all the proper screws.  I was opening mine to put the Cruise Commander M in it, it's a very tight fit in there!
