We have been working on a three month partial facelift to the layout. My friend Alex is working on a 12 ft. train shed for the elevated tracks at the new train station complex and more taxi cabs arrived today to complete the cab lot at the new station as well. Other than these two additions, we are just about done with this project. I have posted progress photos on the Weekend Photo Fun Thread during this project, but here are more complete photos taken from the four corners of the layout. Wonderful Brian....these pictures show how it all came together.  How is the train shed going to be incorporated?  Is it going to be covering the two elevated tracks above and behind the new station and will it be mounted at the elevated level?  Reason why I ask is that your e-mail to me expressed your concern of visually blocking the view of the layout from the new station....

Jake:

Several coats of flat white paint. That's it.

The shed is going over the elevated tracks above the new train station complex. The marginal height should not interfere with the view.

Thank you Henry, Jake, Ray, Spence and Alan for you compliments. I sure appreciate it.

I had over 156 D-56 Christmas in the City buildings to incorporate into the layout. Super Streets would have chewed up too much room to get the all of the buildings into the layout comfortably. I did think of it before I started, but discounted it when I realized I did not have the room for it. Thanks for the compliment.

Brian,

Fabulous! Excellent work and impressive layout.

Congratulations!

And as Alan (Leavingtracks) frequently suggests, if anyone wants to see more details, the pictures can be enlarged by:

• Right Click on a picture

• Select ‘Open Link in New Window’

• Maximize the new window

• Maximize the picture itself

Thank you for sharing.

The answer to your question is yes. We have been married for just about 11 months and when we first started dating, she became acquainted with the layout. She just loved it and never had anyone in her family that was into trains. She said to me at that time, boy have I missed a lot. She was the one that suggested the renovation project and she was an integral part of getting this done. I realize your question was "tongue in cheek", but I am very fortunate to have a wife that just loves trains as much as I do. Thank you for the compliment.

Thank you Mike and Alex. I sure appreciate your comments and so does my wife. This is really special to her as this is her first attempt at layout design and construction. She was a trooper through all of this and was very understanding about the many hours that we both put into it.

Alex you should take a good deal of credit here as your work made this all possible. Can't wait to receive your train shed for the upper level. Then I can say we are done with this project. I put the new cabs on the layout today and they look super.

1 more Brian,

(Bridge) Really is cool, as I am trying to connect 20 Evans leds, around the ceiling,

Saw something , will need later on this year, :  Are the snow trees in the D-56,city scene ( or the white ones), appears to be about, umpteen hundred of them, from D-56, or somewhere else !??

Thanks

Thanks Terry. Yes there are many D56 trees in the winter portion of the layout. They have a somewhat white colored glitter effect to reflect fresh fallen snow. The thought that there is no such thing as too many trees is at work here. You have to see it in person, but our city is really special with all the buildings, street lights and accessories, not to mention the trains as well.
