Hi Everyone,
Question: Anyone have a procedure for repainting the numbers on a ZW Large Handle?
I have a bunch of good handles that the numbers are faded or not visible.
Thanks in Advance !!!

You just slap the paint on and immediately remove it, it stays in the recessed areas for the grads and numbers. I've done that a few times.
Any particular brand/type of white paint recommended? Same for red or yellow lines?
You can use any modeling paint. Just use paint thinner for solvent paint or water for acrylics. Success depends on how deep the heat stamping is. Odds are poor if the heat stamping is not very deep.

Thanks Everyone, Will give it a try...
This is my handy work. Had alot of time to kill during covid . I was restoring postwar zw's. It's slowed down for me now that it's warmer out. It will come around again soon. I used testors paint markers, yellow red black and white, all glossed. I dabbed the area lightly , let it dry for a day. Then buffed off the excess.
Thx Jerry,
Nice Work....
How did you buff it off?
That looks great.

I used it with a hand drill. You have to go slow as if it's to fast or you spend too long in one spot you will melt / Warp the plastic. I would know because I did , and it took me a few weeks to find another original to replace it with. Also when doing it I suggest you apply some kind of polish as your buffing it off.
KISS
Colored Crayons - Rub into numbers and lines - Wipe off with a rag.

I had 2 months off from work because of covid during the winter months. The hardest is the lettering on the back side where the binding posts are. I had a few zws that needed restoring, so with trial and error I got better at each one. so here are some pictures of one that I bought from New York electric trains a couple months ago. this is a complete teardown, clean, service, repainted and tested. If anyone is ever looking to have theirs restored or purchase one from me when I have it available , let me know.
Thanks Everyone, will give all a try !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
