I'm looking for either instructions or preferably a video on disassembly and repair of a Lionel "Z" type transformer. I would have thought I could find something doing an internet and You Tube search but nothing comes up. The transformer itself seems to be in pretty nice condition but needs a new power cord. I can't quite figure out how to separate the top and bottom to access the internals. I removed the screws underneath and the control knobs but don't want to force anything else. Once I can get a power cord on it I can then see what else might need repair or restoration.

You need to remove the nameplate to access screws holding the two top and bottom casings together. The nameplate is held on with either hex head screws or drive screws. I suggest you get the service documents available.
Additionally, while open the unit is open, you should check and replace the carbon rollers.
