Does anyone know if there are repair parts available for the 2-Rail O-Scale Overland GP-60 model?  I believe the front gear box/tower has a broken gear and also the one side of the "U joint" fitting on the Pittman motor has  broken off.  This is where the drive axle with the universal joint connects to the motor.

Additional questions?

How do you dissemble the "gear box/tower" on the powered trucks?

-and-

Does anyone repair these models?

For very good reason.  If it is early Overland you may want a total repower.  CLW with Jay's tooth belts would be a minimalist solution, or just go with his repower.

We found early Overland would make it around the loop roughly once.  They tell me later Overland is way better.  I do have a recent PA, but have not track tested it, so cannot vouch for its innards.

Brian, I highly recommend taking the opportunity to upgrade to Jay's drive.  You will get much smoother and quieter operation and current draw of under 1 Amp total, with similar pulling power. And if you're into DCC and sound, you can use an HO decoder. Jay also offers a dual-motor option so you also have room a big speaker too.

For example (GP9s but you get the idea):

Usual disclaimer: No relation to Jay, just a very satisfied customer!

Before this gets too far out of hand, please note, I'm not advocating, or trying to sell you, a whole new drive.  All I'm trying to say is, if Bill can't help you with the required parts, may be i can.

Pete,

Also don't believe for a moment I don't appreciate your shout-out for me because I do.  I just don't want all of this to be construed as me, as a non sponsor, to be promoting anything I do.

Sorry Jay, it's highly likely I don't understand the sponsor concept properly. Not wishing to ruffle any feathers here!

I do still think everybody should get your drives though!
