I have a 20-3047-1 2000-Ve NYC Niagara steam engine that stopped running at our last show. No sound - will not run in either conventional or DCS mode. DCS could not find engine on test track and would not add engine. Yes the battery was replaced. MTH will repair the engine but will install all new 3V boards speakers etc. Does anyone have the ability and old 5V boards etc to repair this engine? I am going to York so could bring the engine. Thanks Bruce brucefclark@Juno.com

Truthfully, unless you get a really good price on the 5V boards, I'd just go with the 3V board conversion. They're less likely to bite the dust in the future, and you'll also have the benefit of modular boards. If the electronics dies in a 3V system, many times it can be repaired as you can get to all the components. For 5V boards, you can replace some parts, but many failures are a "junk the boards" failure.
As John states the PS-2 3V is the only option other than a used PS-2 5V. I can do this repair for you with a discount. I believe the MTH wait is 8 weeks for non warranty and I have the parts in stock. E-mail is in profile. I am a MTH ASC so it comes with a warranty. G
GGG email sent. Thanks Bruce
Go with GGG, he knows those boards better than MTH does.
