My DCS is version 4.20 & the TIU is Rev L . This loop has been in operation for about 2 years with no problems .The hand held  unit just reads "No Active DCS engine On the Track ". My hook-up is through the Fixed 1 in & out port .I have ful track power ,but no control of the engines .Both engines(PS2) run on a coventional track & run about 6 sec after power shut down. (I asssume batteries are OK ) . I used a MTHZ-4000 & set the engines back to factory. ( Was successfull because the horn sounded twice )

When the read button is pressed the display says it is communicating with TUI 1 .From the threads I also reset the TIU to factory .After each of the above steps I try to ADD MTH engines(with one engine on the track at a tiime ). The hand held still reads  'NO Active DSC engines on the track " .

I believe the TIU is defective & that is why I am seeking a service center in North Jersey .

SInger.  From your narrative I assume that you are not using the AUX port to power the TIU itself, but just the connection through FIXED 1.  I suggest that you run a jumper from FIXED1 red to FIXED 2 red, switch the black from FIXED 1 input to FIXED 2 input, and then switch the OUTPUT blacks & reds from FIXED 1 to FIXED 2.  This will pin down whether a signal generator has failed.

Quite frankly, not everyone who is a certified tech is really qualified.  Thus, I would not send it to just any tech, but only to MTH or a well-known tech here in VA.

HI I would be glad to help you I'm in new jersey and my lhs is an asc tech and can either fix it for you or send it to MTH. his telephone number is 856-358-8844 he is a great guy and will bend over backwards to help you out in  any way he can . he is called Alloway trains and things, it is a husband and wife train shop and has a beautiful DC's o gauge train layout .

Yep it seems it may be defective but don't give up just yet.

Not likely, but the dcs signal could have been turned off accidently.

To turn it back on go to Menu/System/ Dcs set up/ AON which mean turns the signal on to all channels.

Crossed wire to the track? red always to center rail.

Does fixed 2 work?  Hook up the track to fixed 2 keeping in mind the tiu must be turned on(just like a radio) to function.  Power to fixed 1 or an aux power supply  will turn the thing on.

Resetting the TIU is not going to do much. You may be better off deleting the engine (s)from the remote and try adding again.

If fixed 2 works there's definitely a signal  problem with fixed 1. (back where we started)
