Aside from my other problem posted, I'm looking at the wiring and thinking that it "may" be a good idea to replace the wiring...I want to do the "disc to stud diode" replacement while I'm in there and might as well replace the breaker too. I've seen folks post about diode replacement, though no step be step has been seen yet, but I've seen no-one talk about rewiring...is it needed or am I overthinking it...my other project is a slightly older vehicle{1940} that needs rewired due to bad cloth covering and corroded wiring, so my thoughts are "why not this too"...piece of mind on the car since a 6v electrical fire isn't wanted, but is the transformer a good idea too? The ZW works fine, we used it for over an hour yesterday playing with some new cars I'd bought thru ebay- barely got warm...when we were trying to use the horn that reminded me the discs need replacement and I still hadn't redone the rollers on A and D, so I pulled it apart last night to get the job done.

Like I was saying...am I overthinking this{rewiring} or will it be fine.......your thoughts?

Other than the power cord, most of the wiring inside a ZW is either covered with cloth insulation or is enameled wire covered with spaghetti tubing. I've never seen the need to replace any of the internal wiring. But I have not seen your transformer.

Typically the insulation on the power cord is brittle, and if not already cracked, will crack with some flexing. So the power cord often does need to be replaced.

If there are issues with the other wiring, I'd have concerns about the safety of the entire transformer. It would need to be checked over very carefully.

My old car has the usual green on the copper wires due to exposure...add the lack of cloth covering and too-liberal use of some kind of liquid wire sealer makes me need to replace that...all of it. The transformer isn't that way...yes, old wiring still, but in good shape as it was stored inside.

I just question the idea of a rewire for the ZW...not from what I can see of it needing it though.

Thanks for your input.
