Replacement E unit for Lionel Conventional FT (6-21973) / E unit Part # 6-40-8112-116

I recently picked up a Lionel Santa fe passenger set (6-21973) from 2005. Trying to test the FT locomotive i kept getting a short. started disconnecting the components and found it to be the E unit (part # 6-40-8112-116). Said E unit is out of stock on lionel's parts site (and i presume wont be made again being a much older PCB). Any recommendations for a drop in replacement that would be able to handle 2 DC can motors? Wether it bet a more currently available OEM E unit, or 3rd party.
