Hi,
I am thinking about purchasing a couple of Pre-war 629 passenager cars to restore, and was curious to know if there are replacement parts for the metal door and window inserts? I have found the plastic window glass inserts but not the doors themselves. I figure that if the parts are available then I could obtain the cars that folks would steer aay from.

You might want to email George Tebolt, he carries alot of pre war parts...

The only insert was for the upper part of the windows and it was a mottled blue on white. Nothing was on the lower part of the windows or the doors.

I guess I needed to mention that it would be the doors and window frames that I would possibly be needingm, depending on the condition of the cars I am able to obtain.
I will look around for George Tebolt's site.

The doors and windows are a one piece unit. The only replacement would be from a 529/629 donor car. Replacement inserts were not reproduced.

I was wondering if that was going to be my only option. Guess that would give me an excuse to go a train show to rumage through the parts boxes.

Those inserts as Ron stated are not made. Those are inexpensive and common cars and can be picked up for a few bucks each at shows out of junk boxes.
