Could somebody please recommend replacement wheels/axle for Lionel MPC era rolling stock?
I have a number of 6-9872 PFE Reefers that wobble when going over the Fastrack 22.5° crossing. You can see in the video how they wobble. But notice the 2nd to the last car which is a newer version that tracks perfectly fine through the crossing. I don’t have this issue with any other rolling stock, MPC era or otherwise. Fortunately they do not derail but I’d like to eliminate it if possible.
I swapped the wheels with another car and it tracked fine. To my eyes I cannot see a difference between the two sets of wheels but obviously the angle of the wheel or maybe the depth of the flange is different enough that it’s riding thru the guides weird and causing the wobble.
So, I want to change out the wheels but not sure exactly what I need. Are all replacement wheels created equal or do I need something model or era specific? Any input would be helpful.
