Replacing mechanical e-unit.

It won't work. You need a board specifically for a AC motor. The K-line reverse board will over heat in short order.

The Dallee #400 Reverse Board works for AC motors.

Lionel also has a replacement board that works for AC motors, but I don't have the number handy.

We have the 691-ACMC-103 Reverse unit, list for $45.00, our price $38.25. This is the new AC Electronic E-unit. Also for a few more bucks you could instsll a AC Commander and have Tmcc.

If it was me, I would go the Dallee route. Simpler wiring. The Lionel board Boxcar Bill has needs the connector wires with the plugs for the board, so you would need to purchase them from him too.

There is a method to use a DC motor reverse unit with a bridge rectifier to keep the current flowing in the same direction through the field while polarity of the brushes is reversed.  I have done this with the Lionel 103 e-unit on a single AC motor Alco.  Runs fine.  Just lower top speed.  If interest I will post directions.  G
