Does anyone know where I could get reproduction Lionel thin rim wheels for a standard gauge engine? Trickle doesn't make them. Anyone know who does?
...or, better yet, anyone have any originals they want to part with??
Thanks!

Lally Trek,
There are many suppliers of prewar parts in the market place. I'm going to need some myself in the near future. I'll let you know what I come up with........Got a small problem here. Since you're one of those who likes to play hide-n-seek. I cannot send you email. Oh Well
Thanks Happy Pappy. And I'm not trying to play hide and seek, I just get easily overwhelmed with all those blank spaces I need to fill out in my profile! I entered my email and location, more to come later....
Please let me know if you come across some thin rim wheels. I've got a #5 that would love to get back on the rails.
I'm also looking for a boiler front and a boiler cap for the cab-end of the same #5 loco. Can't really find anyone who makes these either. Any suggestions on where to look?
Joe Mania should have all the parts you need. He would be the only source. jlmtrains.com.
FYI: The MTH parts booth at York had some of their repro thin rim wheels. They were attached to axles, both with a motor gear and without. I have not compared the MTH wheels directly to original Lionel thin rim wheels... ??? However, this does provide another source.
Don't hold your breath for originals. I searched for years and only found two.
Another quick question....are the boiler ends on the #5 locos wooden? I was under the impression that they were tin, but was just told I'm wrong. Can anyone confirm?
Wood.
2nd to wood.
I would wait to see what Joe says. I would bet the MTH wheels are die cast. I have not seen anything they made in cast iron. If you are putting them on an original loke, I would wait for the proper part. But thats me!
Joe Mania reproduced the cast iron thin rim wheels for his repro #5. Check with him if his has any or is making any more of them.

Thanks for all the info, folks. I was able to get cast wheels from Joe Mania, as well as the wooden boiler ends. And I just found main arms and connecting arms for the #5 on George Tebolt's site.
