Requesting Information about this Locomotive

It looks like a K-Line scale USRA Mikado.  There should be a large K (with a Nike-type swoosh over it) on the underside of the locomotive somewhere.

Its a K-Line engine but it came with and without TMCC, same cab number. If it has a program/run switch under the cab it has TMCC. If not its conventional.

If this engine does have TMCC, a cruise update (ERR Cruise M) is a very easy install. Since Lionel did many USRA Mikados using K-Line dies you can also get most all the parts from Lionel as well though I doubt you will need any.

Traction tires:

"I'm not sure how old they are so it would be best to just purchase new ones."

No need to replace them if they (or anything else, generally) work. Lifespans of traction tires are all over the place, as is the general quality of them.

Also, if the loco runs well (adequate adhesion for your purposes; tracks well, especially through switches; etc) without them, you can just leave them off. I have some locos with fewer than "specified"; they are just an aid to adhesion. 

The K-line Mikado is my favorite of many K-line steam engine I run. I can pull the instructions sheet for you but like all K-line instructions they are not much help. You have a wonderful engine even if it doesn't have TMCC. I love the size and detail. Don

Thank you everyone who answered my question, I apologize for not getting back on this earlier, I kind of lost track of it until now.  You guys have been a great help and I can't wait to see it run, conventional or TMCC, I don't really care, I just want to see it pull some cars.
