I've also posted this on the 3 Rail O gauge forum and repeat in here just in case someone reading this forum has an answer.
I am trying to work out how to retrofit a smoke unit in a dummy B unit from 3rd Rail's latest issue of E7's. Scott Mann tells me that these units do not have smoke but interior lighting; the A units on the other hand have TAS smoke units. Of course I am talking about the 3R TMCC versions.
I'm not bothered about the B unit having sound and I imagine it might be difficult to get sound that matches or is in synch with the A units. Looking around I see that the Electric RR Company produces a board called Mini Commander EX, which is said to be specifically adapted for B units and can used to control a smoke unit as well as directional lighting. It's also advertised as having on-board software that enables MU-ing with other TMCC engines, which is important for my purposes as the B unit would be between two powered A units. I have a couple of spare TAS smoke units one of which could be used for this project. (Scott kindly offered to try to get a spare of his manufacturer's smoke funnel assembly, which is obviously more elaborate than the plastic funnel used in my Lionel Legacy E7.)
However I've no experience with this board or indeed a retrofit exercise of this kind. Anyone either have experience of such a project or know of someone who could do it for me?
Thanks.
