I just received a new TIU and remote set (RevL).  I tried attaching it to my layout and cannot add engines to it.

I formerly had one of the earlier TIU's using  engineered filters on the layout and have not had any problem loading engines.  I have been running on this set up for years with 10 different Ps2 engines with no problems.

Just to verify that I was not introducing any additional issues.  Isolated the new TIU L to only a single stick of gar graves flex track powered by a postwar ZW.  I still cannot add engines to this new remote (attempting to add a ps2 conversion blue comet engine that works reliably on the old system), the engine powers up silently like it is receiving the watch dog signal, but comes back with no engines found.  The remote currently displays no engines in its memory.

I tried using all four channels, 1 and 2, variable and fixed, and was sure to have power to channel 1 fixed for all four tests, confirmed with the red light on inside the unit.

I tried a TIU reset and also a Remote reset with no luck.  Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Joe,

I had this issue and to make it short, I found that I had the incoming red and black wires reversed. The engine would still come up silent, it would not add.

I think that you may be "misremembering" the situation.

If the wires from the transformer to the TIU are reversed, everything would still work fine. If the wires from the TIU to the tracks were reversed, the engines would come on with lights and sounds, in conventional mode.

Hump Yard Mike:

I use the MTH DCS system.

Whenever I add a new piece of equipment such as a new TIU I always start with my system that works correctly.

For example: I have 2 TIUs and one remote.  When I purchased a second TIU I set up the original system with a known good engine.  When I was satisfied that everything worked together then I substituted the new TIU and started it up to test it as well.  I do the same thing with New engines.

If you suspect a remote is Not communicating wirelessly then connect the remote and the TIU using a cable and try again.

Joe, you actually aren't 'misremembering' the situation, what you have described is exactly what happens in a DC environment when input TIU polarity is reverse and one that the guys that run strictly O gauge don't often know or think about.  Because of the difference in behavior between AC and DC power it may not be relevant in this case but you are correct on what you recall.
