I saw this film during the ARM/TRAIN conference in Montreal a few years ago in an IMAX theatre. Afterwards there was an additional PowerPoint presentation on making this film. Then there was a question and answer session with film director and producer Stephen Low. Later in the week at the closing banquet for the conference Mr. Low was seated at the same table as me. Jokingly (Since I come from a Trolley Museum) I said he now needs to make a film about trolleys. With a straight face he said "Be careful what you wish for".  In addition to the film he is doing with BNSF, he is working on a film on light rail transit with Bombardier. He also created a short film called Red Rocket about the trolleys of Toronto. Here is a link to that trailer: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L2giXQ5hIVU .

The film Rocky Mountain Express is not your typical railfan production, even one of the very high end ones. This is 45 minutes of moving artwork.

I do not own a Blu-ray player, yet! I will be getting one as soon as I can get to the store and know what I am buying. Some basic Blu-ray players can be bought for less than a hundred dollars. This film is worth the investment in the Disk and a player or a three hour drive. You will not be disappointed.

Have seen the movie many times and was on the train when they were filming it for part of the trip and driving beside other parts chatted with the movie director at one location while we waited for the train. Worst part of the helicopter along side the train was that it was blowing up water spray along the lakes when close and dust along the dryer sections for those of us hanging out the side of the passenger cars trying to get photos of the locomotive on curves.

The movie was great but riding was better!!

Here is a past post that I did showing the helicopter following our train, click on photos for a larger view;

And some other shots of the train and O scale model of the engine on the train;
