Lionel 6-9111 N&W 4 bay hopper

This model is a very basic O-27 4 bay hopper that was issued in 1975. (BLT 2-72) It was produced by Lionel/General Mills Fun Group, Mount Clemens, Michigan. The model has plastic trucks. Stamped metal pieces were provided for attaching the trucks. Although this same hopper was issued as a covered hopper with opening hatches apparently this car had no cover.

Later versions of this model had plastic molded end pieces for attaching the trucks which were used as a means of reducing cost of manufacturing the product.

Note: This model has been upgraded with sprung metal trucks. Photos show the original hopper and the upgraded version.
