I was just looking at some images of NKP 765 and noticed that the headlight used on the Cuyahoga Valley a few years ago was a single bulb headlight with reflector, and the engine that ran on NS through Altoona more recently had a two bulb sealed beam? Is the sealed beam now a requirement, or is it possible that what appears to be the original headlight can still be used?

I remember it being said, perhaps by Rich, that it was a NS requirement/request.

Yes, the NS required the twin sealed beam arrangement, just as they did on the J and A when they were still in excursion service on NS.

I don't think that NS will ever allow them to use the "original" headlight, single bulb, arrangement in the future. When off the NS, the 765 folks could probably change it back to the original single bulb, if they desired.
I remember sometime years ago Rich mentioning that the single bulb, although original, was not very good at night and obviously the dual bulb headlight defeats that issue.

Correct. I can personally vouch for the "not great visibility" of those single bulb headlights. The advantage we have on SP4449 is, of course the additional illumination from the oscillating Mars Light.
We ran with an historically accurate, as delivered appearance for a while. Then we changed out the headlight to the twin sealed beam so we could actually see something when we ran at night.
Rich-Don't you just follow the tracks....even at night?! Ha Ha.....
(Despite all of the times that I have seen and photographed this engine, the headlight change was one thing I did not notice!)

It doesn't matter to me which headlight we use. Most of the time I have my eyes closed, just like when I land the aircraft.
