Hi,
I have been working on a Rico Station in Polar Express colors, it's not quite finished but thought I'd post some pix of it so far...

That is very cool. Nice work.
Nice, are they custom mixed colors? Are you going to do snow and icicles on it too?

No, they are straight out of the bottle, only they're Polly S colors, which unfortunately are no longer made. Yes, I do plan on snow, not sure about icicles. Hmmmmmmmmmm.
I like the icicle idea.

Miss PollyS, great colors. I think icicles, especially at night with lights on the station, would look nice. Great idea, keep us posted.

It looks good, interested in how it turns out. Icicle wise, I think clear silicone should do the trick, if done properly.

Cheryl...
I know....they're (gasp!) HO...which I guess would be 'small O icicles?...but these might be a start:
BTW....I ordered a couple packs for you, in case you're interested!
My aging brain sez that Dept 56 and/or Lemax once offered packages of icicles, too, but I'm too lazy to go searching if this is accurate. Have at it, though.

It'll be interesting to see them. I have already researched mini lights, lol.
We shall see when these come in. I wish they had a picture of them being used to get a better perspective.
Cheryl...
Home, now. Dinner done. Mellowed out. Did search...
...which is, indeed, what I remember seeing in a store, on a shelf, hanging on a rack.....whatever....years ago.
(search ebay....Department 56...icicles...lots of competitive deals.)
Just the thing for the eaves of a Rico!....
Sez Chico!...
...eh, amigo??
(Couldn't resist getting my road in the mix!)

Looks way better than mine, which should probably be completely disassembled and put back together again. At least then I can paint it like you did. Excellent work!
Icicles and some snow! Perfection. I like you station it has lots eye appeal.
Thanks everyone for your likes and comments . Plan to put some finishing touches on this weekend and will post again then, happy railroading
Beautiful colors - great work! And, could be used on a year-round layout.

This is the year 'rounder, I've set things up so that I can swap them out as the holidays come and go. I also have the Lionel haunted depot with "haunted sounds" from ITT products and some bare trees that I use for Halloween.
I found an excellent example from a current ebay listing of a RICO station with icicles. This the best example of a North Pole themed RICO I have ever seen.
Cheryl:
The color combination and paint work turned out great. Great work.
This has been a timely thread as I have also been working on kit-bashing two Rico Stations into something else (Restaurant). Cheryl, nice job Lass! I particularly like the "Year-rounder"!
One thing about the kit, the instructions are not very clear how the roof trim is to be installed. One might think that it to sit on top, but, I think it is supposed to fit between the roof sections. Cheryl, did you find this to be the case?
I also found it odd that there were no clear windows provided in the kit.
Yes, I beleive you are correct on the roof trim. My year rounder I left off the trim, on the Po Ex, I was given the building already assembled, and the builder tried to set on the roof seam. It's pretty solid and some attempts at debonding have not worked out well so I am leaving it be. Free is free, lol, and I am grateful to the giver!
As to windows, I don't think any of the Lionel kits from the same era as this had windows provided. I use the clear plastic from blister packs and transparency film, (overhead projector type) for windows. Hope to see pix of your project, sounds like a good one!
Very nice work Cheryl. I think a few elves coming and going would be fun.
Don't forget the smoke unit with hot chocolate sent.
