There have been several threads about the beautiful Alco PA diesels with nice photos and comparisons. They are one of my favorite engines since seeing the American Flyer PA's as a boy. A few years ago I came across this handsome almost all-silver prototype called the 'Aspen Leaf' scheme. Broadway Ltd makes an N scale set but I've never seen them in O so I decided to try my hand at painting one. These started out as an AA pair of Williams Warbonnet's and I located a MTH Premiere UP powered B unit that I added smoke to. I still need to pull the motors from the Williams powered A so I can run them as an ABA like the prototype pictured below. Forum member Bruce Clouette created the nice decals for them and I added balsa wood sides and filler to increase the size of the Williams fuel tanks. Although the MTH B is correctly scaled most don't notice the difference when they are running and belching smoke as only an Alco can!

Thanks a lot guys for the kind remarks.

Marker - the yellow area was fairly easy, I used blue tape and free-handed the cutting. I figured it would be a fairly easy pattern to create. Bruce Clouette made the decals on a computer but this was about two years ago now. I haven't seen him post here in about that long...

Alan - did you miss these when they came out last fall? They were on the cover of the 'other rag' in October...
