Starting to work on the headwaters of my river scene. Starts with a leveling of the entire length of the riverbed. Foam board is

added for a pasture base. The foreground piece will be a lift out section for table access.

Next step was shaping the stream walls.

Thanks everyone. Still a ways to go.

Added foliage fiber, multiple turf colors, streamside grasses and trees.

preliminary placing of cows in back pasture. The pastures will be separated by a

portable loading ramp (backordered). Front pasture will be populated by beef cattle. Fence is toothpicks and thread.

Some final details. Deepwater channel and shallow water painted and blended into shoreline. River rock added to the shallow bank and transitioned to low brush. Underwater weeds added downstream of rocks.

Fisherman and a few schooling salmon to be added. Realistic water will eventually be poured in when the entire length is completed.

You've done such a beautiful job up to this point but I want to give you something to think about before using Woodland Scenics Realistic Water. My friend used it on his layout about 3 years ago. It looked great at the time. Now, however it's all dull and I'm not sure what can be done with it. The stuff never really hardened and it appears that over time dust has settled into it. This could be an isolated case but I suspect it is all too common. Perhaps, others who have experience with it over time would comment.
