So is this a deal where you don't see the 40% off at checkout only on the final bill? Or do you have know the secret word??

Lee Willis...As you do not list an email address, I will reply on Forum.

Don't be worried-it is not a fire sale. RMT has alot of new items ready to be shipped from factory. However, my warehouse is only so big and I need to make room. With all the former KLINE tooling available to RMT, there will be a constant supply of new and upgraded train items from RMT.

To really get all the complete info on special deals etc. including the 'secret word' you need to be on the RMT mailing list.

Thanks.

Sorry - - that had escaped my attention.  I fixed that.

I understand about the warehouse space. and I've seen that happen before to other ocmpanies.

I have so many BEEPS - most admittedly bashed, that I have literally lost count - 24 or more.  The two I most recently bought (UP #208 and 209) will be rare on my layout in that they will not be bashed or repainted, but with one other older UP BEEP, form a three-loco team on my "BEEPWorld" loop.

By the way I ordered those two BEEPs, and a BANG I threw into my cart at the last minute through MB Klein - your site was out of UP roadname.  But when you lower your prices they lower theirs - maybe not quite to your level but substantially.  I buy from MBK because if I order by 9 AM I get it the next afternoon, even when paying only normal shipping.  Near instant gratification.

Every time I look at these, and keep walking, I think..boy, they could build a model of

a real prototype, rather than something imaginary, with only a little more effort..a

scale 44 tonner or another, not done, small diesel, an assortment of small rail

buses and railcars..a steam dummy like I kitbashed and hope to picture on here, and the bookcase of railroad books across this room is full of prototypes that ran on real railroads.

You miss the point about RMT.  While they've made modifications and improvements, none of their tooling is original, it's all "pre-owned."

Hence the name "Ready Made Trains."

BEEPs in particularly are really fun locos: solidly built and durable as the dickens.  And the fit tight layouts with 0-27 curves well, too.  Very little in model trains gives as much fun for the money (I recently bought some of less than $60 each).

And there is a real loco that BEEPs actually look alot like (the Brookville SD70 600 Hp switcher) - some of the earlierr models of which are so similar that it would seem that BEEPs just have to be a model of them.  But in fact the Brookville went on the market decades after the BEEP first came out: I have a Kusan BEEP that dates from the '50s or '60s, and an old, I think K-line had a version years later - the Kusan body will slip right off and onto a modern RMT chassis.

I also have an ABBA set of BEEFS (same chassis but different electronics), which I have modified by switching a body of the unpowered A unit powered with a powered one from a B (not as easy as one would think since the circuit boards a mounted to the seiling of the body shell) so I can run a six motor ABA set: that set will put just about anything included more than a dozen heavy scale passenger cars, fast.  They are interesting but not as much fun overall.  The BANGS and BUDD (same basic trucks) are also interesting and durable and I have a few of them but they are not as much fun as BEEPs in my view.

I have two of the new beeps (With tethers for multi pickups) and one older beep without for a test bed while building wiring. Nothing but good things with these engines.

The recent sale makes the Beefs very attractive, but will have to postpone on that. Maybe another time. However you would think some B&O Budds would be made.

Thanks to Walter for these sales.

Regarding business models, we have a couple department stores that advertise, week after week,  20% off, 30% off, 40% off already discounted prices.  I've also been to New York City and seen "going out of business sale" in the same store from one year to the next and the next.  It's called "marketing".  I can't figure it out either but it seems to work for them!

Walter. I did receive an email, however there was no contact info or special code included.

I have 3 Beeps....one kitbash to my own creation. And with this offer I had to break down and buy a AT&SF ABA BEEF set. Shipped to my house for less than $200 is what I consider a good deal....the only kind that gets my cash today.....just so happens to be what I can afford today! They will be very cool on my door layout!

That's what I was hearing too.

I don't mind RMT's model at all.  In fact, the sale price coupled with Lee's articles on how he has used them makes me very tempted to try a Beep.  I think it is a great marketing idea to get people to try something new or "step outside the box".
