I just noticed they look a lot alike. Does anyone have both of these to see how close they are to one another. Maybe this is who makes Menards stuff.

Golden Wheel I believe makes Menards stuff. I haven't seen the latest RMT stuff since they arose from the dead, so I don't know how closely it matches the Menards boxcars.
They both look like the Williams box cars The brake equipment below gives them away
RMT stuff is likely made in the old Sanda Kan facility or another factory that is owned by Kader, Bachmann’s parent company. Bachmann owns Williams, including its boxcar tooling.
Menards has a separate production facility elsewhere in China that produces a far more extensive line of cars than either RMT or Bachmann markets, including some that use wood in their construction. It is believed Menards or the factory it works with cloned some Williams cars — such as the boxcars, hoppers and tank cars — to save design costs.
Menards could not afford to sell their boxcars for $19.99 if they were produced at the same factory as RMT’s product.
Happy Thanksgiving everyone.
I would say that the contractor that made K-Line/ 0-Line is RMT's supplier. Such being the case, is it possible that there are five rolling stock manufacturers in China for Lionel, 0-Line/K-Line, Williams, MTH, and Menards? There must be some overlap.
Guys....I have been asked to do some editing on this topic. It might be best to ask Walter himself via email as to where his product is produced...that is if he feels the need to do so as it is certainly any manufacturer's right to divulge information as they see fit....
Thanks,
