hello

Having just received and set up my ABA PRR units I guess I don’t know much about certain operational aspects.

The dummy A unit does have a horn. Yahoo.

Does anyone know if the dummy A unit should be lit; headlamp in particular when running forward or reverse?

 Thanks 👍0EE17951-A8B8-4C2E-899D-E9B25BBE133B

If you are operating your trains in a prototypical fashion the trailing A unit would only need have its headlight on when the pair are running light (without a train) in reverse.   When pulling a train there is no need (in my humble opinion) for the trailing A unit to have its headlight on.  But, one of the joys of model railroading is that you can do whatever makes you happy regardless of being prototypical.  Merry Christmas to all!!!

I seem to remember asking RMT that question when I got mine, and they told me it wasn’t supposed to light.

Thanks for that info! I also sent them an inquiry. I have my doubts about the people at RMT. When I asked a retailer about this ABA set having a horn, he contacted Walter directly. The answer I was given was that it didn’t have a horn and that the YouTube videos you see of Beefs have the horn sound dubbed in for effect. I found that to be completely false as the Dummy A unit “does” have a horn.

oh, well! Saves me from opening this thing up and it’s not a biggie!

Thanks,

Gary
