Not prototypical, but the definition the term "lash up" fits the making and pulling of trains pretty well. Bet the thought was P.R. based, and the public would find formal "M.U." less appealing than a catchy phase like "lash up". (According to some of the definition sites I visited "L.U." was popular/coined around the turn of the century).

I use both correct and incorrect "train" terms too, but nice Train Masters!!

Strongest puller I've ran might have been a PW "Lacky"

It's never a waste of time to push for proper terminologies and spelling.  A little knowledge and terminology / spelling corrections enriches, not detracts.

In general I agree...But the evolution of language sort of requires deviation from the norm. Maybe "seldom" verses "never". Colourful language can be made of more than one color....& can B fun 2.
