I recently purchased the RR-Track software version 5.  Is there a way to copy a layout from the version 4 and paste it into the version 5 software program?  I tried the obvious, copy/paste, select all/copy/paste, but it did not work.  Do I need to start from scratch?  Thanks for any suggestions.

I believe Doug N. is right: Simply open your V4 layout in V5 and it should just open.  you don't need to copy/paste the layout, although I suppose you could do that too.

If you have any doubts, once you've opened it in V5, click "Save As" and save it with a new filename.  Hopefully, this will save it in V5 format, but will also preserver your v4 original.

If you're having trouble with it, please feel free to email me the V4 RRT file.  I'll do the above and I'll email it back to you as a V5 file.

Opening it in v5 as others have stated will work. If you want to use the v4 file in v4 ever again, make a back up v4 copy before opening with v5. As others have also said, once used in v5 you can't go back to using it with v4.

Swafford,

Do you mean the add-on libraries for RR-Track? If so, I think you will definitely want the track library for the track you plan to use and then maybe some of the accessories libraries that suit your type of layout. A track plan library in the track of your choice might be nice to have also.

I first got the program about 3-4 years ago and I forget exactly what was included with the original purchase? Over the years since the original purchase, I have added many of the O gauge add-on libraries and sample track plan libraries. If I don't already have them all, I should be very close to it.
