running an AC loco on DC | O Gauge Railroading On Line Forum

I have a three rail Darsted loco that was DC from the factory but converted to run on AC with a Dallee electronic module. Is it OK to run it on AC (there doesnt appear to be a switch to change from one power source to the other) and if so will I have directional control. thanks, bertiejo@comcast.net

The first components on those circuit boards are rectifiers and the whole board runs on DC, so the actual boards would not know the difference between AC & DC track power.

It will run just fine.

If it has sound, the horn or whistle will be going continuously on DC.
