Recently saw a video of a fellow running a Lionel original conventional starter set Polar Express loco running at 10 volts. In an attempt to make it smoke better, he deliberately used a 75% / 25% mixture of MTH Proto Smoke and JT Megasteam. The results were quite impressive!

Have you or anyone you know also ever tried creating your own custom smoke fluid concoction by mixing a combo of different manufacturer brands to achieve "super smoking' results? If so, which smoke fluids did you use and in what percentages did you mix them together to get that "ultimate" smoking experience for your trains?

I never got one of these as a kid for the same reason. Too risky

Remember what happened when Leonard mixed the rocket fuel.

This may be heresy to some, but I cut the major manufacturer's smoke fluid 50% with inexpensive baby oil. I also run straight baby oil which is mineral oil, and have been dong this for years without ill effects.

There is no need to concoct a super smoke fluid for MTH PS2 & PS3 engines because you can control the amount of smoke production. At the max smoke setting, MTH engines are great fogging machines.

Unscented Baby oil in my smoke fluid? What will I oil my wood floors with?

I've tried it before, alone and didn't like the odor, but it may have been the brand.

I also kept a good eye in the mixed fluid. Like a guard dog for about 6-7 hours then tapering off.

After about a week, I figured out I wouldn't I wouldn't need to use the stairs.
