Took two locomotives over to a friend's place this afternoon to test run. My K-Line Hudson #5344 has PS2 in it and hadn't been operated in several years. I tried to get it going here at home a few weeks ago on my test track to no avail. Also purchased a Legacy Mikado from a Forum member a few weeks ago but couldn't get it to respond either. Steve has a beautiful large layout with both Legacy & DCS so I figured we might could get some action. After a frustrating 30 - 45 minutes in which neither would respond to their respective control systems, somehow we figured it out and had good success!
The Mighty NYC Hudson #5344
Posed here in front of and facing Lionel's Legacy model #2410 that pulls the NYC Pacemaker passenger train. Still don't understand why Lionel insists on putting small pilot wheels on their premium steamers! Same with the handsome Mikado below.
Lionel Frisco Mikado on it's first run under Legacy control. Plans are to someday change it to SOUTHERN under the cab and leave the number the same. SR had a few mikes so this should 'ease in' the backdoor of the roundhouse ok...
Will be looking for a decent scale pilot wheel set for this one - tiny wheels look ridiculous...
