I have 2 questions about the new offer passenger car offering.  1. Are the UP 21" cars add-ons to the previously released cars, or are they a different era series?  If they are a different era does the paint lettering etc match up with the 1st set of cars I have comming?  2.  Are the Milwaukee heavy weight 18" Columbian cars and RPO cars painted to match the early Olympian cars?  Are they real cars and scale length?  I have the Lionel 261 and MTH Little Joe, Streamlined Hudson - 2017 version and Box cabs to pull the cars.  Thanks Bruce

Here another Question.  When will the UP Station Sounds Diner cars arrive, ship out to dealers?  I have one on order.  Thanks,  Paul.

Don't hold your breath. Last info from Lionel was that the UP excursion cars were "on the water" but before that they said they would not arrive Stateside until March. Neither of these bits of info were specific about the SS diners, which even further back in the series of explanations of when these cars will arrive were said to be likely to arrive later than the 4 and 2 car sets. The first shipment of the new/2nd run 21" cars (SP, Amtrak and ESE second run) is only just now arriving at dealers. We'll see if that includes any diners; if so, there's hope for the UP version arriving with the excursion car sets.

Anyone want to add their thoughts since no one had replied.

If you want an answer from Dave or Ryan, it's a good practice to use the @Dave Olson or @Conrail6358 method.  This will insure they at minimal get an alert that someone has posted specifically to them.  While it doesn't guarantee a reply it does cut through the noise of the rest of the forum.  I will use the @brucefclark so you get this alert.

Interesting.... shortly after my post about baggage car lengths, I looked back in some catalogs.  There are places where there are definite references to 18" baggage cars in the 21" passenger sets (specifically the Penn Central set).  But the car pictured in the above "engineering samples" appears to possibly be the UP flag car (without the paint obviously), and I'm basing that purely on the fact that the door arrangements on that car only match what's catalog'd for the UP flag car -- not the regular baggage cars where the doors are closer to the ends of the car body.  In the catalog, only the UP flag car has the doors closer to the middle of the car.  And here I thought the UP flag car was gonna be based a regular baggage car -- perhaps not?

But then again.... who knows WHAT will actually be produced, since catalog illustrations aren't known to be the most accurate representations of the real product!!!

Hmmmm.... I realize photos can be deceiving based on the angle captured, etc...  But that baggage LOOKS longer than what appears to be an observation car on the shelf below it!!!    I thought the baggage cars were going to be 18".  I only care because I ordered the American Freedom Train, which largely consists of the display cars (i.e., based on baggage car dimensions).  Mike Reagan had indicated numerous times that the AFT display cars and all the baggage cars in the 21" passenger sets would be produced as 18" cars, which would be appropriate for "scale length" baggage cars.

Very interested now to hear from folks who received any of the first wave of 21" passenger car sets in recent days.  Can you folks confirm the length of the baggage car?  Many thanks!!!

David
