I just saw an example of Lionel's HO scale PE set.

As an add-on to the set they offer a "Hot Chocolate" car. The window silhouettes show waiters walking the aisle with trays of Hot Chocolate for the kids.

This looks like a no-brainer for Lionel to generate more S gauge PE sales to current PE set owners. Add a new window silhouette to a coach car and presto-change-o you have another PE car to add to your set!

So...since it seems that Lionel does monitor this forum to some extent, would you buy a "Hot Chocolate" add on car for your  set?

I never found it very appealing from the O gauge offering. The fact that the special ticket was included almost brought me to purchase it.

I suppose the real reason is that it would be in the always changing consist (relating to the movie) for a moment - then it would be a passenger car again.

Ahh, what the heck, it's a fantasy train and it would be another car to add. The dancing waiters look good. The O has walking waiters.

I would't want one.  If you watch the movie there wasn't a separate car for hot chocolate.  It was served in the same car as the kids rode in and the set has that car.

What if they just made the people inserts you could put in the car that already came with the set.  That I might buy.

The consist with the 5 cars they already made is enough.

Mark,

Sign me up too, I would definitely buy a hot chocolate car if Lionel made it for S. The consist can never be too long.

The motor might take issue with that statement. It's only got so much to give before it overheats and dies.

So far it is happy with five cars, but you are right there is probably some limit.  But then again we pulled 185 freight cars with two Legacy ES44AC'S on our club modular layout at the WGH show in Raleigh a couple years ago.

Mark,

Seems like new window strips could be an option. Graphics are so simple that anyone with a little computer graphics experience should be able to make up a file that could then be printed on film, like they do for presentation on an overhead projector. Of course, that's assuming it's possible to open up the car for access to the OEM window strips.

Is the snow effect just painted on the roof, or does the body casting actually have molded-in relief?
