I will be interviewing MTH at the April York again for the S Gaugian magazine.  I will be talking with Andy Adleman, VP of Marketing.

As I did last year I am asking for suggested questions for the interview.  Please make the questions singular in nature and not requiring multiple answers.  Also, they need to be positive and not critical of MTH.

I would like to see if MTH is willing to reaffirm that they plan on producing the full SHS catalog of products before I would even ask about "newly tooled" equipment.  There is serious doubt in my mind that MTH has any real resolve to promote their brand in S.  I think the reasons why are painfully obvious.  

That being said, what pace do they plan on taking with offering of future product release from SHS in 2017? 

Are they planing on a "catalog" anytime soon, or will future releases be via separate flyer/bulletin? 

Will we see more road names in F3s anytime soon? 

Are there any cabooses in the near future? SHS cabooses are just fantastic.

Will there be a switcher in 2017?

So, they don't think folks run the modern locomotives they've been making? I can understand MTH's stand, as they haven't made any modern stuff, but Big L? This is sorta like the reasoning behind no cars for the Comet steam loco. American Models to the rescue!

Of course, if they don't know how to make trucks to match their cars, I can see it.

I have to say I agree with the above post, if Lionel are adamant that they have no intention of making modern rolling stock for these locomotives, then it leaves the market wide open for AM and MTH to fill it at Lionel's expense.

I am slightly at a loss to understand why so many people have this perception that Lionel and no one else should fulfill all there requirements and not consider the other manufactures, have I missed something here?

I understand that Lionel made the locomotives but in the 'O' gauge world there are other manufactures that build rolling stock that can go with many other companies loco's and customers pick and mix, so what is the issue here in the 'S' gauge world?

When will we see the next set of F units announced?

When will the first run of switchers be announced?

When will the 2-8-0 return?

Will you build the E7?

When will we see cabooses announced?

Do you anticipate there being another 4 year delay between announcement and delivery of a ProtoSound equipped engine?

Would you consider building newly tooled passenger cars? The S market is seriously lacking in good options.

Will you make undecorated models like SHS did?

I told Andy E. that I thought re-releasing the SHS product line with nothing more than their ProtoSound electronics was a horrible idea. That meant that we could potentially have the same tooling reused for 30-40 years. Enough already... But he made it sound like they got a pretty good deal on the SHS line and just reissuing their stuff would be enough to be profitable. IF they were going to expand and invest in something new customers would have to buy up everything they put out. I told him that felt like we were being held hostage... 'Buy what I give you or you will never get anything new...' Oh well. Time will tell. At this rate, a whole LOT of time.

As far as I know "Ready-To-Run" is common domain. 

Has been ever since the first train set crawled out of the primordial soup.  Also referred to as RTR in ancient Model Railroader and Railroad Model Craftsman scrolls.
