Good morning...
To the very few scalers on here...what are you using for front couplers on SHS F units?
Tried KD 802/808's, no worky, too long and shell didn't fit properly.
Just curious what you're using.
Thanks!

Been using the 802's
Off the top of my head I don't remember if I had to do any modifications, I'll have to check when I get home.
If I recall correctly, it did require a little bit of yoga to get the shell back on.

Well John, I just dug out one of my F's and checked. The 802 fits just fine on the SHS F's, like it was made for it. Don't even have to remove the shell.
Now that I had a chance to look at it, just remove the pilot (The two big Phillips head screws, it may take a little wiggle to get the pilot off.) Install the coupler and reinstall the pilot. I used the screws SHS supplied to mount the Kadee's. No shims or anything else required.
Now, there's no escaping using the SHS coupler and bracket on the back of the unit. That took a little yoga with the rear truck.
I don't recall it now being anymore complicated than that, but it's been years since I had to do this.

Rusty,
Do you have a screw loose? In the last picture it looks like one of the screws on the truck cover plate is backed out a bit.
Thanks for posting the photos. Good to know how to do this.

Probably. I have been know to have a screw loose...
Actually, the screws have little to do with holding the gearbox cover and truck sideframes on. The whole assembly just snapped on.
The screws originally held the mounting plate for the Flyer compatible couplers on.

I'll go back downstairs and see what I did to screw this up.
I did find out that you don't want to use super glue on coupler screws. Like Ron White says, "ya can't fix stupid".
Ha Ha, I can't sneak anything past you guys!
