OK Guys, I talked with My Lionel contact Ryan and he says that the GP7's will be shipped from China in September arriving at Lionel in October.  So they won't be shipped to dealers until Lionel gets them.  

We might see the new Geeps by late October-early November.

Only in the Hudson and K5 until around 1950, when the smoke/choo-choo unit was moved to the boiler.

Rusty, all Gilbert steam engines had S-I-T in 46 & 47.  48 and after all smoke units were in the boiler.  

The redesign to get rid of the S-I-T was a cost consideration.  Smoke unit and engine were run by one motor.  The smoke in boiler also made it so the smoke puff was in time with the engine.  That was an improvement.
