Hello Everyone!  I'm a new member.  This is my first post.

Just bought a Lionel 6-18130 set - Santa Fe F3 AB.  They look great, but the powered A has a problem.  I have cleaned the wheels, oiled the axles and motors, and greased the visible gears.  Also checked inside both trucks for grease - plenty there and both look clean inside.  After that the loco will run in spurts or not at all.  Off track the wheels on the front truck will turn smoothly and then abruptly lock up.  I can see the middle of the three visible gears (drive gear, part No. cs-6008010116-p GEAR / DRIVE / MLD CELC) getting pushed out from the truck when things lock up.  Leads me to suspect broken plastic parts inside the truck.

I've never attempted to disassemble a truck.  Is there much involved?  Are replacement truck assemblies available?  Don't know what I don't know, so I'm not sure what the options are.  Would appreciate member input.

Thanks!

Not a hard locomotive to take apart. However, let’s dive into the issue a bit more to understand your exact problem. So when you say it will run in spurts, does the power drop out? Lights go dead? Or is the power staying on and the locomotive seems to be in a struggle with itself? …..this locomotive has two AC Pulmor motors, so if the power is still there, and one truck has locked up, the other should be attempting to push it through,…..
