Several years ago Atlas and 3rd Rail announced F units with the beautiful stainless panels simulated on certain models like the AT&SF.
I don't remember which models actually hit the dealer's first (Atlas?) but they were striking with the gleaming side panels standing out from the 'regular' silver painted cabs. Eventually Lionel announced their Legacy Santa Fe's but after arrival, many were disappointed with the rather lackluster finish of these.
MTH meanwhile had a set of 'chrome' F3s in their RK line and perhaps the Premiere as well long before Atlas & 3rd Rail's announcement but they were not prototypical in appearance as the whole cab was chrome with the red warbonnet applied.
Unbeknown to me, MTH produced these handsome Warbonnet F7s in their HO line back in the 2010 catalog! Full PS3 and both units powered, they are simply beautiful! I came across them at our regional train show near Asheville a week or so ago and I had no idea who had produced them as they were sitting on a shelf along with many other diesels. Athearn has some in their Genesis line, but low and behold - these said MTH.
Do any of you happen to have these beauties? Am wondering if their Yellowbonnets are also plated?
