One guest at dinner today worked for the Santa Fe in their Chicago passenger car yard. He said the trucks were painted every Spring and Fall. He also said there was no scheduled maintenance for the glass in the full dome cars. The only time glass was replaced was for a crack. He shared there were no replacement gaskets when those cars began service and after several years, dry rot occurred. Several vendors tried to make good gaskets, none were satisfactory. John
