I just received an order I placed with Side Track Hobbies for the Santa Fe "Scout" 4 Pk & 2 Pk and the "Chief" Stationsounds Diner Car.
Just for Reference, the Lionel Product Numbers for the items I purchased are as follows: Scout 4 Pk 6-25646 in 12V1, Scout 2 Pk 6-25651 in 12V1, & Chief SS Diner 6-15545 in 05V1.
The first thing I noticed upon removing the "Scout" Heavyweights, is that the windows are covered in a Dark Green film. I realize that the images within the catalogs are just a reference, and are subject to change. However, Mint Julep/ Dark Green is quite a long way from the Yellow that was advertised in the 2012 Catalog. Being that the Stationsounds Diner is NIB Old Stock from the previous run of SF Heavyweights, its color is more or less clear with the slightest green tint, just like the color of the windows on my Southern Crescent Heavyweights.
So my question is; did I receive a random batch that has had a massive color shift, or did the Dark Green color run in all of the "Scout" Heavyweights? I have never seen Dark Green in a Prototypically correct Pullman car.
