These are just my opinion,

I did not say "search the internet". I suggested using the search function HERE ON THE OGR FOURM, as the Santa Fe "cigar band" paint styling has been discussed at length on the various OGR sub-forums.

Did you try the search function? There have already been photos posted on the 3-Rail 027 Trains Forum, here on the 3RS Forum, and even the 2-Rail SCALE Forum.

I would think that if he wanted to do a search he would have done that and wouldn't have asked the question, I'm glad he didn't because I would like to see the pics and differences as well; without being castigated to do a search.  If you don't care to see just don't click on the thread!

Not gold as in Gold leaf or deluxe gold.......but more a Grande gold, deep yellow or rich yellow.....depends on what you call it.

Open a jar of French's yellow mustard and you can see what the color really looks like.

Let me point out that the cigar band,as applied to blue and yellow FT's in the 100 and 400 Classes, F7's in the 200 Class*, and F9's in the 281 Class lacks the black outline stripe around the oval that was applied to passenger units and including "bluebonnets".  It was masked with the same stencil, but the passenger units had the outside edge of the yellow covered by black.  The outline of the oval on the freight units looks wider, but it is actually the same width as the yellow and black together on the passenger engines.

* Including late model F3's ("F5's") 200L-A-B-C and 201L-A-B-C, which were in the 200 Class with the F7's.

Maybe this is the answer.  Scott Mann said that the reservations for the 2-6-2 are not looking good.  Maybe a 2-8-2 will appeal to a broader array of potential buyers, because of its more modern appearance, with the headlight on the smokebox door and its heftier-looking domes and appliances.  The 2-10-2 looks like the 1905 engine that is actually is.  That puts some people off.  This looks has more of a trademark Santa Fe appearance.

Looks do count.
