All this Big Boy talk has got me wondering what a scale Big Boy looks like on an O-99 curve. It is the size of the curve I have on my outer loop.

Does anyone have a picture of one going around this size, or similar, curve?

How the Big Boy looks on this size curve will factor into my decision on whether or not I buy the new Vision Line model.

Great question!  I'd think if someone showed us pictures of a Vision Line Challenger tackling an O-99 or O-108 curve, we'd have a pretty good picture of what the Big Boy will do.

Anyone?

P.S.  Honestly, if the maximum curve I had were O-72, I'd pass on these monsters.  Although they "work" on those curves... if you've ever seen these jewels on much broader curve radii, you know right then and there that they don't belong on the "typical" curves that most layouts are restricted to using.  Sorry guys (and gals), but O-72 ain't gonna "cut it" for this Big Boy -- at least from a "looks" perspective.

Good think I don't care about those kinds of "looks".  I manage to snatch one of these jems, it's running on O72 everyday (Tighter if I can convince her to.  But as anyone that's run a steamer knows, these ladies have a mind of their own and don't take to convincing well.).

Here are a couple of pictures that show the MTH 20-3414-1 Big-Boy on the inner Ø99" curve, and SF passenger car on the outer Ø108" curve.

The only interference problem I would have (but easy to avoid) is if the Big-Boy on the inner Ø99" curve would meet the MTH 20-2980-1 DDA40X on the outer Ø108" curve. The DDA40X had quite an inner overhang because it is so long between the trucks.

Hope this helps.
