I want to add a scale operating semaphore to my layout.  Seems like the choices for self-contained operating ones are:

Lionel

MTH

and Z-Stuff

I'm interested if people have comments about the appearance, reliability, etc.  I know the Lionel is a solenoid and I assume the Z-Stuff is a motor;  don't know about the MTH

Professor: one thing to be aware of with the MTH unit: it operates in reverse from the classic Lionel semaphore. That is, the solenoid pulls in to create the green aspect. To create the red aspect, the itad/ insulated rail(plus relay) goes from normally closed to normally open, shutting off the power to the solenoid. Thus, the base of the unit gets pretty warm over time if not triggered on a recurring basis. i set one of my spare units up, after 10 minutes, it was reading 106 deg.F on the outside of the base. I suppose that MTH felt that it would be triggered often enough that heat would not be a factor--
