The three cars from Conjunction Junction are done and on our seasonal public layout. Everyone loves them! The little man was a give away meal toy I found on the bay. Originally, these are suppose to be two box cars and a gondola, but I had to use what I had on hand.

What kills me is I once went into a gallery in Maryland in 98 that had all the existing cells from the schoolhouse rock cartoons, getting ready to sell them all. I think I recall the story was one of the animators kept them all in a basement. Excitedly, I asked if they had any conjunction junction ones, and he said almost all of them were destroyed in a flood as they were in the box at the bottom of the stack of boxes all the others were in and it was ruined by flood water.

Conjunction Junction is My favorite Schoolhouse Rock video!!! Has anyone else been stuck at a grade crossing watching a train roll by and begin to sing this song?
How cool would this be as a train set??? (Lionel, are you LISTENING???) This is how I would assemble a Conjunction Junction train set:
I would use a Lionel Docksider for locomotive power. The locomotive number is the year Conjunction Junction first aired. The locomotive was never shown in the video, but I think this would be a great fit.
The rolling stock does not need to be anything fancy as this is based on a cartoon. The consist is made up of a boxcar (I have a little surprise in mind for it, so keep reading), a single dome tank car and a 2 bay hopper.
So here is my little surprise for the boxcar: Roll the boxcar over a section of operating track, press a button, and watch the two hobos jump out (same principle as an operating milk car.) Cool, right?
To finish off the train, a fun orange bobber caboose. (I can't make out the car number on the caboose. 3427?)
What fun is a train set without accessories? In the train set, I would include telephone poles, a water tower with Conjunction Junction markings and two billboards.
Separate sale items could include a Conjunction Junction Operating Gateman...
...and an operating section of track. As the train approaches, a train worker holds a sign that says stop and a heroine lays tied across the tracks. When the accessory is activated, the worker turns the sign to go, and the heroine leaps up off the tracks.
So, who's in for one????

Man, I would love to see the gateman... Although am tempted to say that it should be the operating switch tower instead.
