using some ameritown kits and an additional group of blank walls, I have created a depot for the layout. An elevator and second floor will be added soon! Take a peak and pass me your thoughts.

Nice work. I like the length and height proportions. Is the face shown to be trackside or where trucks enter? What is the open area in the middle, lower level?
Trackside, rails will be embedded in the street. Stay tuned!
Looks great so far. I've been contemplating doing something similar for a back area of my layout, but haven't progressed past the drawing board yet. I'll be following your progress with interest.
What kind of glue did you use to fix the wood to the plastic?
I need either an REA or USPS distribution center like that, with a small yard serving it, to justify all these RPO cars. Have had that idea on the back burner for a while. Nice to see one being created.
Steve,
i sed gorilla glue and it set up fine. I washed all the pieces in warm Dawn dish soap first. Painted the interior portion and did not see any adherence issues.
windows glazed with sheet styrene using canopy glue.
That building looks great and perfect for an REA depot. Waiting to see the finished building. Like others, I would love an REA depot like that but unfortunately it would need to be smaller for my space. Thanks for letting us follow along in the build.
Question. What era is your layout?
Ron,
circa 1947-50. Depends on cars and motive power on the tracks.
Looks great - utility pipes, downspouts, fire escape ladders, signage, etc. can all work to help hide any seams.
I like it! Gives me a thought - open the ends and place the building over track.
